Rock sliders come in all different shapes, sizes, thicknesses and strengths. But no existing Jimny rock slider has been built with horizontal adjustment in mind - let us explain.

A traditional rock slider is a part that mounts to multiple points on a vehicles chassis, preventing any large rocks or debris from contacting the lower sill panels when rock crawling/off roading which can cause thousands of dollars in repairs.

These are pretty simply parts, but they're all made so different depending on the manufacturer.

After seeing a few highly modified Jimny's in person, one of our team members bought up that those particular Jimny's had custom one-off rock sliders that sit as close to the sill panels as possible. We thought, why can't we produce some that are adjustable in that sense?

And that brings us to where we are now, our very own adjustable rock sliders have been designed and made. We designed these to be as high up as possible to the sill panel area of a Jimny, whereas many other rock sliders sit much lower.

We achieve this by using bent and notched inner tubing pipework. This is notoriously hard to get right and is the main reason other rock sliders simply use straight piece of pipe here. But let's be clear, there isn't a problem with using straight tubing - Doing so simply just sits the rock slider lower which isn't exactly the most ideal setup when rock crawling.

You've probably already seen it already, but many rock sliders available are a 1 piece system. They're already all welded together, brackets and all. Simply lift them into place and off you go.

We've designed our sliders a little different, our rock sliders are split into 3 pieces (at least for the initial JB74 3 door design).

By using a 3 piece system like this, not only does it make installing these much easier due to not having to balance the weight to fit them - you can remove the outer rock slider pieces if you're not planning on doing any serious 4wd'ing for a while - keep the weight off your Jimny for day to day use.

We also have plans to make modular pieces that can be swapped out for the external rock slider, like integrated front and rear scrub bars as an example.

Removing the sliders is very easy as well, as we've welded captive nuts on the back of the brackets. Simply remove the 16mm bolts and off it comes without having to collect any washers or nuts from the brackets.

Where does the adjustability come from?

The adjustability comes from the brackets - they have 6 holes on each point, whereas the rock slider has 4. This means you can move the rock slider in/out up to 60mm. In the most 'in' position, you'll need to remove your plastic sill panel pieces giving you maximum clearance, the highest you'll find on an off-the-shelf Jimny rock slider.

In the photo below, the sliders are sitting in the 'middle' position, which we assume will be the most common setting for them.

You can also position them further out from the Jimny as well, if you reaaally don't want anything getting near your Jimny's sill panels. This would also provide you with a bit of a step to help with roof access as well.

Weight comes in at approx. 17.5kg per side including all bracketry.

We'll be putting these prototype side steps through hell and back over the next few weeks - If you have any feedback you'd like to share, please don't hesitate to reach out and let our team know what you've got in mind.

If you're interesting in purchasing these rock sliders, they'll be available over the next coming months. & yes, they're definitely coming to the JC74 5 door Jimny as well. Stay tuned!
